Catching

Sideline Toe Drag

When catching along the sideline, both feet must land on the field. Keep your eyes on the ball while your feet know where the line is: it is this separation that you are working on, not the catch itself.

Key points

  • The first foot lands toe-first, dragging along the ground.
  • Never look down toward the line.
  • Ten on each side.

Common mistakes

  • Looking at your feet, and dropping the ball as you do.
  • Landing the foot flat, which carries your body out of bounds.
