QB Roll-Out Catch
- Prescription
- 3 × 25 s · 45 s restabout 5 min
- Players
- 2 minimum
- Equipment
- Football
The passer moves sideways while you’re running: the ball’s angle of approach changes in flight, so you need to adjust your position before it arrives. This is what happens as soon as the quarterback steps out of the pocket.
Key points
- Stay within the quarterback’s field of vision while working toward him.
- Positioning is achieved through footwork, not by reaching your arms farther.
- Three sets of twenty-five seconds.
Common mistakes
- Carrying on with your route without accounting for the passer’s movement.
- Stopping to wait, which gives the ball to the defender.
