Head-Up Foot Fire
- Prescription

- Players

- Equipment
- Cones (recommended)
Facing a cone (or any other marker: bottle, bag), chop your feet in place, then release hard to one side on a signal you give yourself. Against a soft press, it’s your footwork and rhythm that throw him off balance, not your hands. Eight starts, four per side. The cone goes one yard away, in contact range: the video shows a defender at five yards, which is a different situation; only the footwork carries over.
Key points
- The foot chop stays under your body: if your chest moves, you throw yourself off balance.
- The start must break the established rhythm; otherwise, it’s nothing surprising.
- Two seconds of chopping at most: beyond that, you get tired and he doesn’t.
- In a group, with a ball: your partner throws to you as you come out of the break. Same movement, plus the catch.
Common mistakes
- Chopping for a long time, thinking it freezes him: a soft defender is waiting for exactly that.
- Giving away the side with your eyes before you go.
