Wall Hand Combat
- Prescription
- 3 × 10 reps / side · 20 s restabout 6 min
- Players
- Solo
- Equipment
- Wall
Face a wall, hands at chest height; maintain controlled contact and never strike. Practice the three contact responses individually: chop, club-rip, and swim. Ten repetitions per technique, on both sides. A pole, a tree, or a marker stake works just as well as a wall, and also allows you to bring your shoulder through after your hand.
Key points
- The swipe goes from top to bottom, never sideways.
- Use only one hand; the other protects your torso.
- The shoulder follows right after the hand: an arm movement without the body following through won’t free anyone up.
Common mistakes
- Hitting the wall instead of pressing into it: the wall doesn’t move, your wrist does.
- Chaining the moves without bringing the shoulder through, which just repeats a useless motion.
