Crossover Release
- Prescription
- 8 × starts · 30 s restabout 6 min
- Players
- Solo
- Equipment
- Cones (recommended)
Against heavy leverage to one side or the other, a single crossover step at the start puts you right back in front of the defender and reopens both releases. Alternate the inside and outside cone (or other markers: bottles, bags) without deciding in advance. Eight starts.
Key points
- One crossover step, not two: by the second, you’ve lost the time you wanted to gain.
- Take a step toward him, not to the side; otherwise, you’ll end up moving backward without realizing it.
- Stay low during the crossover: that’s what makes your start unpredictable.
- In a group, with a ball: your partner throws to you as you come out of the break. Same movement, plus the catch.
Common mistakes
- A cross-step that’s too wide, signaling the side just as clearly as a hand gesture.
- Resetting without moving forward, which costs a whole beat for nothing.
