Two 20-yard sprints with gradually increasing intensity, at the two highest intensity levels scheduled for the session. The hamstrings are heavily engaged at high speeds: this progressive increase prevents players from going directly from drills to full-speed sprints.
Key points
- Intensity builds during the run; you don’t start flat out.
- Full recovery between runs: walk back, plus 45 to 60 seconds.
- The percentages shown are based on the intensity level: they change depending on the duration of your workout.
Common mistakes
- Continuing without recovery: The second run is performed on a fatigued muscle, which defeats the purpose.
- Going 100% from the first one.
