Bag Chop & Saw
- Prescription

- Players
- Solo
- Equipment
- Blocking bag or shield
A big standing bag (or a dummy) plays the defender. You come into contact and work two hand moves, one after the other: the chop, which knocks his arm down, then the saw (“inside saw”), which clears it from the inside. The bag tips over if the strike is clean. Three sets of ten, per side.
Key points
- Knees bent and torso leaning in at contact.
- The strike comes from the shoulder, not the wrist.
- Your feet keep moving forward while your hands work.
Common mistakes
- Striking upright, with straight legs.
- Stopping your feet while you strike.
