Strong High Catch

Equipment
Football

Run toward a ball thrown high in front of you. Catch it with your arms locked above your forehead, without breaking stride. This is the “high point” in motion: in a game, almost no one jumps from a standing position.

Key points

  • Your arms lock on contact; they don’t cushion.
  • Do not shorten your stride in the last three meters.
  • Three sets of six.

Common mistakes

  • Slowing down to get ready for the jump.
  • Catching the ball at face level instead of going up above it.
