Press-Bail
- Prescription
- 8 × starts · 45 s restabout 8 min
- Players
- 2 minimum
- Equipment
- Cones (recommended)
Your partner lines up in press, then bails at the start, one rep in two at random. When he bails, there’s nobody left to beat: you have to eat up the cushion in three strides instead of running a release against thin air. Eight starts; the partner decides alone.
Key points
- Read the bail from the first step, not the third.
- If he bails, the release is off: you switch to a pure sprint at him.
- Your partner really needs to switch things up; otherwise, the exercise becomes predictable.
Common mistakes
- Running the planned release when he has already bailed, and losing two yards for nothing.
- Slowing down when you see him bail, instead of speeding up to take back the cushion.
