Boundary Release
- Prescription

- Equipment
- Cones (recommended)
Start with your back to the sideline and a reduced split: the sideline plays like a second defender and closes the outside release. Everything is won upfield and inside. Eight starts, reducing the split with each set.
Key points
- The outside release doesn’t exist here: don’t work it, learn to do without it.
- The first step goes forward, never toward the sideline.
- The narrower the split, the shorter the first stride should be.
- In a group, with a ball: your partner throws to you as you come out of the break. Same movement, plus the catch.
Common mistakes
- Looking outside out of habit and running out of bounds before the fifth yard.
- Compensating by widening at the start, which wipes out what little space was left.
