Maintain Block / Head In Front
- Prescription
- 6 × blocks · 60 s restabout 6 min
- Players
- 2 minimum
- Equipment
- Cones
Your partner holds a shield and moves freely in space. Start from far away, go get him and drive him, judging only one thing: your head stays in front of his from start to finish. The block is held until the end of the rep, not until the first contact.
Key points
- Keep your head ahead of the defender’s at all times: that’s what determines who wins the block.
- A block is judged at the end, not at the point of contact.
- Six reps; the partner changes direction as soon as he feels your head slip behind.
Common mistakes
- Winning the first contact and then easing off, which lets the defender get back in front.
- Pulling your head back to avoid the hit, which loses the block before it starts.
