Block At Distance
- Prescription
- 3 × runs / side · 90 s restabout 7 min
- Players
- 2 minimum
- Equipment
- Cones
The two players start from opposite sides of the field, separated by its full width, and run toward a common point in the middle. The block is won based on the angle taken during the approach run, well before contact: arriving already shifted to the correct side matters more than what happens once contact is made.
Key points
- Choose your angle as soon as you make your first steps, not as you approach contact.
- Run toward the meeting point, not toward the defender: that’s what gives you the angle.
- Six repetitions, alternating starts on the right and left.
Common mistakes
- Running straight at the defender, which opens no angle once you’re in contact.
- Slowing down on the approach to adjust: an angle not taken from far away can’t be made up.
