Cut Off the Chase. The partner runs toward a point fifteen yards away; the receiver must cut across and position himself between the partner and that point before the partner reaches it. This is primarily a running drill rather than a blocking drill.
Key points
- Aim for the point of interception, never the defender himself: running toward him means ending up behind him.
- You win the block within the first five steps, not on contact.
- Six repetitions; switch roles each time.
Common mistakes
- Chasing the defender instead of cutting off his path.
- Slowing down as you approach, which makes the angle useless.
