Inside Hands
- Prescription
- 3 × 8 strikes · 45 s restabout 5 min
- Players
- 2 minimum
- Equipment
- Blocking bag or shield
The same block, but only the point where the hands land is judged: inside the shield-bearer’s frame, never beyond his shoulders. A hand that goes outside the frame invalidates the repetition, even if the block was good.
Key points
- Place both hands on the inside, spread apart to the width of your chest.
- A hand outside is a ten-yard penalty, not a good block. Counting it as a failure from practice on is the only way to take it out of your game.
- Three sets of eight; your partner calls out loud every hand that lands outside.
Common mistakes
- Reaching outside to hold on better, which is exactly the foul that gets flagged.
- Placing one hand first, then the other, which turns your chest.
