Hand strikes against a wall from the blocking stance: palms up, thumbs out, both hands go together from low to high and land inside the frame. Your feet keep moving forward on contact.
Key points
- Start with your hands at your hips and move them upward, never the other way around: this is what forces the defender to stand up straight.
- Thumbs out, palms open. A clenched fist controls nothing.
- Your feet don’t stop at the moment of the strike.
- Four sets of eight strikes.
Common mistakes
- Striking with your arms extended, which gives the defender all the reach.
- Placing your hands outside the shoulders: that’s what gets flagged.
