Whip & Pivot Set
- Prescription

- Players
- Solo
- Equipment
- Cones (recommended)
Two cuts in the same repetition. Whip: Run a slant for three steps, plant your foot, and cut back out. Pivot: The opposite. Run an out route and cut back in. Six of each.
Key points
- The first break has to be real: a defender doesn’t bite on a hint.
- The reversal happens on a single step, not two.
- Your hips should move before your shoulders; otherwise, you’ll spin around in circles.
- In a group, with a ball: your partner throws to you as you come out of the break. Same movement, plus the catch.
Common mistakes
- Rushing through the first break because you’re already thinking about the second one.
- Spreading out too far, which gives the defender time to recover.
