Cone Double Move
- Prescription

- Equipment
- Cones (recommended)
A single cone stands in for the defender. Place it about ten yards in front of you (or any other marker: bottle, bag). You run at it at medium speed and sell a first break as you approach: wide base, weight on the fake leg, shoulders genuinely going one way. Then you accelerate in the other direction, torso leaning forward. The fake is made in full stride: you don’t stop at the cone. Eight reps, alternating sides.
Key points
- The fake has to be believable: shoulders and hips really go.
- Wide base at the cone, weight on the fake leg.
- The acceleration that follows is sharp, torso leaning forward.
- In a group, with a ball: your partner throws to you as you come out of the break. Same movement, plus the catch.
Common mistakes
- Stopping at the cone to make the fake.
- Faking with the shoulders only, with the feet staying on the line.
