- Cones, Football
Five cones, five changes of direction in a row, and the catch at the end. Fatigue arrives before the ball, which is exactly when footwork breaks down in a game. Four rounds, with whatever rest you need between them: this drill is worthless done half dead.
Key points
- The last cone should be handled just as neatly as the first; if not, reduce the number to four.
- The passer releases when you leave the fifth cone, not before.
- Complete rest between rounds: this is a skill drill, not conditioning.
Common mistakes
- Rounding the last three cones because you’re out of breath.
- Looking for the ball from the fourth cone on.
