The comeback without a passer: fifteen yards sold as a vertical, brake, then three yards back on an angle toward the sideline. Alternate with the curl to feel the difference between coming back toward the sideline and curling up facing the passer. Eight of each.

Key points
- Sell the vertical until the last step: without a real threat, the comeback opens nothing.
- Keep your torso in front of your hips during the return.
- The cutback is at an angle, not a full 180 degrees: you gain width as you cut back.
- In a group, with a ball: your partner throws to you as you come out of the break. Same movement, plus the catch.
Common mistakes
- Slowing down too early and tipping off the defender.
- Standing up during the comeback, which costs a yard.
