- Cones (recommended)
Four cones (or other markers: bottles, bags) in a line, five yards apart. Run up the line and plant at each cone, with one focus per run: on the first round think only about planting your outside foot, on the second only about selling the head-and-shoulders fake, on the third only about opening your free leg to 90 degrees. Four sets of four plants, changing the focus each set.

Key points
- One focus at a time: three intentions in the same run and none of them sticks.
- Your outside foot should land outside your shoulder line; otherwise, you’ll turn instead of cutting.
- The head moves before the shoulders, and the shoulders before the hips.
- In a group, with a ball: your partner throws to you as you come out of the break. Same movement, plus the catch.
Common mistakes
- Rounding the cone, which removes the plant you came to work on.
- Looking at the next cone before finishing this one.
